Bass Fishing Tip of the Week 02/12/09: Lure Color Selection

Lure color selection can be intimidating process especially when venturing out to your favorite tackle store. All the bright, shiny, glittering fluorescent lures on the tackle racks often are made to catch more fishermen rather than catch the fish.

I have loads of color variations in my worm boxes but it seems I do better sticking to my confidence colors. Here's my personal favorites:

1- Worms and soft plastics: Junebug is my all time favorite. This color is purple with green glitter. My second choice is red shad and third preference watermelon.

2- Crankbaits: For deep divers I prefer natural shad colors such as silver with a black back. For rattling baits, chrome with either blue or black back.

3- Spinnerbaits: I prefer tandem blades with a silver Colorado and gold willow leaf . My favorite skirt color is a white/chartreuse combination.

4- Hard Jerkbaits: Gold or silver with black back.

5- Soft Jerkbaits: All white

6- Topwater prop baits: Silver or chrome.

So next time you go fishng, try sticking to these colors and I believe you'll be more successful. Tight Lines!!
