Kissimmee Grass Tips

Kissimmee grass lines can be awesome for bass fishing in Florida. I've caught fish with topwaters, hard/soft jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, crawfish imitations, tubes and crankbaits.

The shallower Kissimmee grass lines/beds 3 ft or less are best in the spring when the bass are pre spawn/post spawn or during the spawn. Work a worm or crawfish in the thick stuff, the pockets and the outside edge. Throw a spinnerbait into the scattered stuff working over open pockets as well as casting parallel to the grass line.

The hard jerkbaits should be worked parallel to the grass line, while the soft ones can be tossed into the scattered stuff. Topwaters are typically used in the pockets and dents along the grass line. Tubes should be worked in the pockets as there are likely beds there.

In the summer/fall work the deeper lines that are 5 ft or deeper. Stay on the outside edge and flip or pitch a worm or crawfish imitation. If mats exist in the interior of the grass line, venture inwards and flip them.
