Spinnerbaits

Spinnerbaits are primarily used in weedlines, grass and timber. They are an excellent bait which can be worked fast or slow rolled.

My experience has shown me that they produce the best when there is some wind on the water. The style spinnerbait that has produced for me is a silver colorado blade towards the front followed by a larger gold willow leaf in the back in the 1/4-3/8 ounce weight. The double Colorado blades are also effective. The skirt color I prefer is chartreuse and white or plain white with whatever trailer you like.

In scattered hydrilla, use a steady retrieve and try to bump the stalks. If a fish hits, set the hook immediately! In grass lines and pockets, a higher speed retrieve works best to prevent the bait from getting hung up. When there's wind, fish the spinnerbait in Florida lakes and be ready to hang on!
