Summer Tips

Bass fishing in Florida in the summer can be tough. It's hot and humid and after 10 AM the bass often shut down until the late afternoon storms come in.

Always try to find a weedline in lakes or good current flow in rivers and fish in the early morning hours. Topwaters work great with minimal light, and Florida bass feed very well when the sun 1st comes up.

After the sun is a little overhead, scout around for any schooling fish. The morning feeds are sometimes ferocious and you'll see the fish busting everywhere. Use your favorite schooling fish lure and slay em.

If it's calm with no breeze you'll often have to slow down and work a Texas rigged worm. If the wind picks up switch over to a rattling crankbait or spinnerbait.

If it's real tough, find some heavy mats and flip them. Often the big bass set up under these to ambush baitfish.
