Trick Worm FishingWhat are trick worms? They are straight tailed very thin 5", 7" or 10" worms and my favorites are made by Zoom. The worms come in a variety of colors with Junebug (purple/green fleck) being an outstanding choice. The trick worm can be worked many ways, but the conventional one is similar to a soft jerk bait presentation. This involves casting out the worm, letting it settle for a few seconds then commencing with a jerk-jerk- pause motion. Strikes often come on the initial fall, so be ready for any line movement then crank down and set the hook. The fish also hit on the retrieve and from my experience usually during the pause.
Zoom Trickworms Trick worms can also be presented using the Texas rig. Pitch, cast or flip these worms and you will be astonished on how productive this straight tailed do nothing bait can be. Always select the proper weight size depending on wind, water depth and the type of structure being fished. Finally, the trick worm can also be fished Carolina style. This worm is my favorite one to use for deep worming. The do nothing motion of the worm often entices the inactive fish to strike. Check out my fishing store for some nice deals on trick worms here: If you don't use the trick worm, you'll be missing out on a lot of action. So give the lure a try so you can do more catching with a lot less fishing. The Largemouth Herald
