Fishfinders or depthfinders are used to locate fish and to determine water depth as well as underwater structure. Todays machines are very sensitive and many of the newer models employ color LCD displays.
Suspended fish are often seen as arches on the depthfinder screen. The bottom of the lake/ocean is shown as a line or solid color depending on your prefernce.
Sensitivity/Zoom/scale can be automatic or manually adjusted to get the most accuracy from your unit. the depth is displayed as a number on the screen and also can be determined by the scale on the side of the unit.
