GPS or Global positioning systems use satellite signals to tell you your current position in latitude/longitude and your current direction and speed. They are great devices to have for navigating bad weather such as rain or fog.
I personally use them to mark my takeoff position i.e. the boat ramp. Once you have found fish, they are excellent in marking the spot for future references especially in bass tournaments or other fishing tournaments. You can also make routes so you can avoid rocks, shallow areas and islands as well as direct you the shortest route to save on gas. A must have for any fisherman using a boat!
